Kevin Owen, D.V.M.

President

Kevin Owen, D.V.M. and president of ELECTRONIC ID, INC., comes from three generations of agricultural background. He travels and consults world - wide on ostrich production, husbandry, medicine and surgery, was the first president of the American Ostrich Association and currently serves on the board of directors.

In 1986, Dr. Owen founded Ratite ID as a result of a research project on ostrich genetics, nutrition and the need for an accurate method of tracking the birds. Since that time, he has injected several thousand animals including ostriches, deer, horses, water buffalo, and is "very pleased with the reliability of electronic ID."

Dr. Owen has written numerous articles on ostriches, many of which have been published in the American Ostrich Association, Ostrich News, Ostrich Report, Animal Finders Guide, Game Bird Gazette, and Ostrich Farming in Texas, a Texas Department of Agriculture publication. A noted authority on ostriches, he has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Dun and Bradstreet, and appeared on local and national television including Dan Rather CBS/Evening News, and CBS/Street Stories.

Dr. Owen was born and raised in Jacksboro, Texas. He attended Texas A & M University on a football scholarship, earned a BS in biomedical science in 1974, and a doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1977.

After graduation from Texas A & M University, Dr. Owen went to a multi-man practice in Jackson, MS. In 1978, he established his own mixed practice, and maintains an exclusive ratite practice in Cleburne, Texas. Dr. Owen can be reached at his clinic: (817)373-2365 or Fax (817)373-2365
